What is DBX File?

A DBX file is an email extension created by a desktop email client known as Outlook Express. It is a collection of folders that saves the OE mailbox as .dbx for a user profile. For example: common mailboxes are Inbox.dbx, Drafts.dbx, Sent Items.dbx, Deleted Items.dbx, etc. The Folder.dbx stores the master index for all the mailboxes. If it goes missing, Outlook Express re-indexs the mailboxes and recreates it again.

However, the Outlook Express application was discontinued long ago. It was used with the earlier versions of Internet Explorer. Yet you can view the DBX files and data easily without losing its formatting or integrity, with the DBX Viewer software. It is your friendly support and a great way to manage DBX data with ease.

Advantages of DBX File

  • Saving data in a compressed format creates more storage space for users.
  • Fast and effective data retrieval as data is stored in separate folders for different items.
  • Allows offline data access for Outlook Express emails without much hassle.
  • DBX files can be converted to PST format or imported to a Gmail mailbox.

Disadvantages of DBX File

  • DBX files are only accessible with Outlook Express, which is now discontinued.
  • No compatibility and are easily prone to being corrupt for any reason like increased file size, system issues, etc.
  • Backups are not easily possible and are not a friendly file format.

If you face difficulties in converting the DBX files to another file format or exporting it to an email client. Then, opt for the DBX Converter and instantly complete your tasks without limitations.
